Who We Are & What We Do
The Floating Stories Lab exists to make immersive ocean experiences, science, and storytelling accessible, hands-on, and alive. We connect people with the sea — through our boat build, residencies, citizen science, talks, and immersive youth programs — to explore human-ocean kinship relations and to imagine and practice more regenerative ways of living together on our blue planet.
Objectives
Build access
Create spaces and opportunities where anyone, regardless of background, can learn from and contribute to ocean knowledge.
Get hands-on
Invite communities, youth, researchers, and creatives to directly explore and care for marine ecosystems through fieldwork, residencies, boatbuilding, workshops, and once we splash, ocean voyages.
Spark stories
Turn lived experience into stories that inspire, connect, and mobilize for regenerative futures.
Grow citizen science
Support inclusive, community-led research that generates useful knowledge.
Shift mindsets
Challenge baseline and extractive narratives to nurture playful, collaborative, and regenerative alternatives.
