Quietly behind the scenes… something big has been brewing.
We’re excited to share that the Floating Stories Lab is now officially registered as a non-profit association (Association Loi 1901) in France.
Why Form an Association?
Over the past year, the Floating Stories Lab has grown from an experimental storytelling project into something much broader: a living platform for citizen science, creative research, traditional knowledge, and regenerative futures.
We’ve hosted in-depth interviews and sound explorations, developed a citizen science initiative on fiberglass boat pollution, and begun designing and preparing to build a Polynesian-inspired 41ft wooden sailing catamaran.
What began as a family-led adventure has become a collaborative movement—and we now need a more solid structure to match our growing scope.
What Will This Change?
Registering as a non-profit means we’re laying the groundwork to support deeper collaboration, expand our impact, and ensure transparency. Specifically:
We can now build long-term partnerships with scientists, artists, Indigenous leaders, conservation groups, and aligned organisations.
We’re able to apply for funding and grants that support citizen science, creative research, and regenerative development.
The Floating Stories Lab vessel will be an official asset of the association, serving as a mobile research, education, and storytelling platform.
A formal board and advisory circle will guide our work strategically and ethically.
We’ll explore ethical ways for supporters to get involved, whether through donations, residencies, shared research, or co-creation.
What Stays the Same?
A lot.
Voyage Virage will remain the public storytelling portal for our ongoing adventures—where you’ll continue to find articles, podcast episodes, multimedia pieces, and behind-the-scenes updates.
Our commitment to regenerative futures through science, art, and embodied practice remains the heart of our work.
We’ll still share unfiltered thoughts, field notes, and evolving ideas as they take shape.
What’s Next?
We’re currently updating our website, social channels, and internal frameworks to reflect this new chapter. In the coming weeks, we’ll be announcing ways you can get involved—whether you’re a fellow researcher, artist, sailor, scientist, activist, or simply someone curious about alternative ways of living and creating.
Our vision for the Floating Stories Lab has always been about connection—between people and place, between past and future, between the personal and the planetary.
Now, as a registered association, we can truly begin to build the bridges we’ve dreamed of.
Thank you for being here from the start.
Warmly,
Angie
